Church History
We’re excited to share with you what God is doing in Atlanta, TX. First and foremost, we want to say—GOD DID IT!
Starting a church in Atlanta had been on my heart for nearly ten years. Whenever business brought me to the area, I would drive around praying, searching for a place, yet I knew in my spirit it wasn’t God’s time.
Years later, the Lord called us into evangelistic ministry. For three and a half years, we traveled, served, and learned. But in the summer of 2014, God renewed the burden in my heart for Atlanta, TX. We stepped off the evangelistic field and began searching for a building. After several unsuccessful attempts, a brother who worked in the area called us. He’d seen a “We Have Moved” sign on an old church building and thought of us. Long story short—after inquiring, we were given the use of that building rent-free for a year and a half. Our first service was on September 22, 2014, and from that moment, God began to move. We saw lives touched at the altars—some new faces, and some we hadn’t seen in years. Still, we sensed this was just the beginning, not the final destination.
During our years on the road, God had blessed us with a Travel Supreme motor home, purchased wrecked and far below book value. We repaired it ourselves, using it for travel and ministry. At the time, we didn’t know exactly why God had provided it—but He did. While hosting a revival in Atlanta, a tree limb fell on the RV, causing a leak that led to mold. The manufacturer was no longer in business, so our insurance company bought it from us. That’s when we realized—God had a purpose for even that.
Sitting on the corner of the main highway through Atlanta was a closed Orr dealership, a massive building that had been for sale for years. We’d often drive by and say, “That’s our building,” even though we knew the asking price was out of reach. Still, we dreamed. It was the best location in the entire city.
Then God made a way.
He brought an old acquaintance into our lives—someone who was personal friends with the owner. I asked if he thought the owner would be open to a tax-deductible donation. He gave me the owner’s number and told me to mention his name. I made the call, and negotiations began. The owner had already lowered the price, but agreed to reduce it further and generously donate a significant portion as a tax write-off.
By God’s grace, we were able to purchase a 13,000-square-foot building on 7 acres of commercial property—located in the most visible and accessible spot in town. It sits just off the main highway, next to a CVS Pharmacy and only two blocks from a Walmart Supercenter. You can’t miss it.
We used the insurance funds from the motor home for the down payment, and a brother from our home church volunteered to guarantee the remainder of the loan. We've remodeled the building, reserving the back area to serve as a gym for now—and eventually as a larger sanctuary. The remodeled property is now valued at over one million dollars.
Our current sanctuary seats around 150 people, but we’re placing no limits on what God can do. We know He gave us this place for a reason.
GOD DID IT—and we can’t wait to see what He’ll do next.
Please pray for us at Trinity Church Atlanta, TX.
